So What Really Can You Buy in Tobago?

Tobago is no shopping mecca. If buying things is your favorite sport, you can be a little put off. But this not to say that there is nothing to purchase here.

This business of shopping produces a mixed reaction among couples, tourists as well as locals. When they discover that "shopping" is not a big thing in Tobago, the ladies are somewhat disappointed. The men say "O, great!"

So ladies we wont shop, but you may buy things! Some of them are truly wonderful.

"Things" come in many flavours. If you are staying at a self catering establishment, you will no doubt be interested in a supermarket or grocery. We have two supermarkets that justify that name. One is Penny Savers on Milford Road - the main thoroughfare from the airport to Scarborough. The other is Morshead on Buccoo Rd in the Mt. Pleasant area. Both are air-conditioned, with adequate parking provided by the management. The have comfortably wide isles. Both have bar-coded check-out facilities. Both carry a wide selection of goods, local and imported.You can even get such exotic items as proscuito

If you rent a vehicle and go far afield, you need to know where to get gas. Well, our latest gas station is the best in all Trinidad and Tobago - The flagship station of National Petroleum. Find it at the southwestern quadrant of the Claude NoelHighway and Orange Hill Road intersection

For fresh vegetables, quite apart from the downtown Scarborough Market, there's a well stocked little place called Public Demand on a side street just a short way from Penny Savers towards the airport.

For a certainty you will find lines of good cosmetics at prices you can't match in any metropolitan country. Try either of Sheila's- inside the Southwestern Mall or on Carrington St in Scarborough

Our experience suggests that you can buy very good articles for much less than you would pay abroad. For instance, I got 3 pairs of short pants for $120.00 TT. That's under US $20.00 folks!
